About Tonya Taylor
I spent more than twenty years navigating New York City's concrete jungle in steel-toe boots—climbing ladders, carrying tools, reading blueprints, and learning to see structure. Long before I studied anatomy or movement, construction trained my eye to recognize foundations, connections, load, balance, and the importance of every piece working together.
That experience shaped far more than my career. It shaped the way I see the human body.
Today, I am the founder of Taylor To Fit™ and creator of The Architectural Eye ™, helping people understand how their bodies adapt, move, and respond to the demands of everyday life. I believe movement begins with observation. Every body tells a story, and every movement strategy reflects a lifetime of experiences, environments, habits, and adaptations.
Pilates entered my life while I was still working in construction.
After experiencing arm and back injuries, it became more than an exercise program—it became a way to rebuild strength, confidence, and trust in my own body. That experience transformed not only how I moved, but how I understood movement itself.
Today, retirement has brought me from the energy of New York City to the beaches and open spaces of Delaware. The environment has changed, but my commitment to movement has not. Whether walking city sidewalks or barefoot in the sand, I continue to experience firsthand how our bodies adapt to the environments we live in and the lives we lead.
Through the Taylor To Fit™ Architectural Eye, I combine Pilates, functional movement, corrective exercise principles, and real-world movement awareness to help people build a deeper understanding of their bodies. My approach is rooted in Structural Awareness—learning to recognize how the body's foundation, connections, and movement strategies work together to support confident, purposeful movement.
As a certified Pilates instructor, NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist, and Certified Health Coach, I draw from multiple disciplines while remaining focused on one mission: helping people move with greater awareness, resilience, and confidence throughout every stage of life.
Whether I'm working one-on-one with a client, leading a group class, supporting a corporate wellness program, or developing educational resources for instructors, my goal is the same: to help people learn to see movement differently.
Because when we understand how the body adapts, we can make more purposeful decisions, build stronger movement foundations, and create lasting change—one movement, one lesson, and one step at a time.
